The Law society are an inclusive group, aimed at those interested in law and developing themselves in this career line. The ethos of the group is therefore geared towards increasing the employability skills and enhancing CVs of students who see their future in these sorts of positions. A talk from the University of Law about the Legal Practise Course
Organising a Graduate Dipolma in Law Stand at the WOW fair - helping students explore their next steps including: conversion courses and how to become a solicitor or barrister.
Organising a Law Fair where various workshops and guest speakers were invited to show students where a law degree can take you. This included: the police, social workers, universities offering postgraduate courses, solicitors etc.
A Commercial Awareness Insight Day
Assessment days focussing on CV and application feedback to help students prepare for the world of work
Additionally, the society have an academic officer who can offer signposting to those students looking for specific academic-related help.
The big social event for the society involves the Law Ball, which is open to all students. However, the event mainly facilitates networking amongst students and various industry professionals in which students can even secure work experience or internships.
As a result, the society offers members the opportunity to gain real networking experience, and practical skills which offer career development. As such, the connections which have been built by the society will demonstrate to prospective employers that being a part of this society at Winchester is unique in itself.
