The Donut Kings
University of Oxford
Oxford's sweetest big band sound.
Formed in 2001, the Donut Kings have gone from strength to strength to become one of Oxford University’s hottest student bands. We are formed of twenty of the university’s finest and most dedicated student jazz musicians, performing all kinds of repertoire from Fitzgerald, Sinatra, and Basie, to Nestico, Goodwin, and Earth Wind & Fire, specialising in big band swing, funk, and fusion genres. Throughout each year, the band performs at Oxford University’s prestigious college balls, also venturing out into the London scene for corporate events. As part of our summer tour, we will be travelling to Lyon, France, Bilbao, Spain, most notably ending with a performance at the prestigious Kafé Antzokia. The band has played at multiple festivals over the past decade, including Jazz à Vienne itself, Montreux, and North Sea, also taking part in a historic cultural exchange to Bangladesh in the Summer of 2017, in close correspondence with the Bangladeshi government.
Please note: although the band is mostly made up of students from the University of Oxford, we also have students from Oxford Brookes University and have in the past had young professionals working in Oxford play for us. We are not officially affiliated with the University of Oxford and are not part of the Oxford University Music Society.
