East African Society
University of Kent
We are a vibrant family of student representatives from all around the Eastern region of Africa. We aim to strengthen the growing community of East Africans by giving them a safe space within a foreign land, to feel accommodated for, by people similar to them; encouraging healthy learning without fear of succumbing to the pressures that a vast cultural difference tends to impose.
In an ever-changing climate that is embracing diversity and long overdue appreciating different cultures, this society also proves to be a bridging platform not only in the University of Kent, but throughout the United Kingdom, where individuals who may not even be East African, are welcome to liaise with, network and learn from their fellow global citizens from East Africa all the while promoting various important campaigns such as the Beyond Zero Campaign by the First Lady of Kenya - which the society directly fund-raised for.
