Current Affairs Society
University of Kent
The Current Affairs Society (CAS) is one of the oldest societies at the University of Kent, founded in 1965, the same year the School of Politics and International Relations was instituted. CAS brings the most interesting and inspiring speakers to Kent. In the past, CAS hosted Current and Former Presidents, MPs, NGOs spokesmen, Journalists and many other inspiring and mind opening personalities. The topics of the events will be broad, ranging from Politics, to Business, from Art to Environmental matters, in order to cover a wide range of subjects that reflect a wider range of students, and collaborate with more societies. The format of the events varies according to the topic and the confirmed guest speakers, and it usually takes the form of panel discussions, lectures, conversations and debates, always followed by a Q&A session.
The CAS season begins in October and ends in March, with 2 events per month. CAS is in partnership with local, national and international companies and Think Tanks, and Members benefit free tickets to all CAS events, discounts for academic platforms, merchandising and free entries to local events. Past CAS Members now have key jobs at EU Institutions, Diplomatic establishments, Worldwide companies and government institutions.
