Glasgow Anaesthetics Society
University of Glasgow
GAS is a student-run society that will be organising lectures and skills evenings throughout the year for those interested in anaesthetics and critical care.
Each year, we run a National Undergraduate Conference for Anaesthetics and Critical Care aimed at undergraduate medical students. Each year, we have around 80 - 100 students attending from around the UK. It aims to allow students to gain insight into this field of medicine by inviting specialists to speak on a range of topics, from an introduction and training pathways, to current advances in the field. It also hopes to encourage research by undergraduate students by allowing them to present their research via posters, awarding prizes to the best projects. Moreover, clinical skills stations, led by volunteer clinicians allow students to develop their skills using specialised equipment.
We also hold regular revision sessions in the form of small group teaching and clinical skills sessions in the run-up to exams.
