University of Bristol Windsurfing Club
University of Bristol
As a university sports club, our members are students keen on our sport, and of all abilities, from beginners to advanced wave-sailors and racers. Some of our members are on the Olympic pathway, and we can even boast a national champion. The windsurfing club is a tight-knit community of like-minded individuals who all love to spend time on the water.
As windsurfers, we love to develop our skills and show them off. We go to monthly SWA events that are UK-wide and also gather students from other UK universities (up to 600 per event), as well as alumni that have loved their experience so much they want to stick around. Last year we hosted a windsurfing event in Bristol. This was the largest of the core SWA events and attracted 150 members from other universities for windsurfing, lessons and socials. Due to the success last year, it is looking likely that we will host this event with the University of the West of England and the University of Bath again, with an attendance of 200-300 predicted!
As well as the trips, our club’s activities include: weekly windsurfing trips (especially for beginners), weekly socials, SWA core and wave events, RYA instructor courses, and windsurfing summer holidays for our members. We like to share our love of windsurfing with other university windsurfing clubs and we are both collaborative and competitive towards them so we are in a good position to expose your brand to their members. For instance, our most recent holiday had students from nine universities all coming together in Vassiliki, Greece.
