2018

Winner of Bristol SU Student Society of the Year 2015/16, SU Collaboration Award 2016/17, and Best Cultural and Faith Society 2017/18, the University of Bristol Hindu Society (NHSF) is an ever-growing society. We are one of the largest and most prominent faith and culture societies at the University of Bristol, aspiring to create a “home away from home” for all our members whilst providing them with an amazing opportunity to learn about and experience the Hindu religion and culture.

Founded twelve years ago, we have gone from strength to strength, attracting more members and increasing our appeal to a diverse range of students across all disciplines, faiths and backgrounds, bringing together students across the university to celebrate cultural diversity. We currently reach out to 500 members monthly through our newsletters, and enjoy strong ties with our alumni, as well as other Hindu Societies from universities across the country. Being affiliated to the National Hindu Students’ Forum (NHSF), the largest Hindu body in Europe, we have the potential to promote our sponsors to over 10,000 members of this organisation from 37 different universities across the UK. The society also possesses a fast-improving social media reach - it has two YouTube channels and almost 150 subscribers in total with our society Facebook page followed by over 1200 people, and several of our videos surpassing 500 views on YouTube.

Furthermore, as a society, we host several organise several large-scale events annually, where some of our flagship events have previously sold between 300-600 tickets to both university students and members of the local community. Some of these include Dola Re Charity Garba, Jyoti Diwali Ball, and Rang De Holi (festival of colours). We also organise more intimate weekly gatherings which provide great marketing opportunities for businesses. Finally, we offer students a variety of recreational sports sessions, a chance to join and perform with our in-house Indo-Western fusion music band – Taal Music Bristol, and an opportunity to take part in our award-winning production – East Meets West (in collaboration with Bristol SU) – which recently featured on BBC Radio Bristol.

So, we hope you’re interested in working with our society, and to find out more, please read our Sponsorship Proposal or visit our Facebook page!
