UCL Sign Language Society
University College London
We offer lessons on campus with fully qualified teachers and you can even take your British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1 exam. We also run informal, student-led lessons (*free* for members) where you can learn basic BSL, practice what you know and meet others in the society.
Learning BSL is fun, useful and gives access to a whole new community you may otherwise not be able to communicate with. Understanding BSL is also a valued skill in the work place and the BSL certificate is nationally recognised and really stands out on CVs, opening up a whole new range of opportunities.
As well as lessons, we also organise brilliant socials, including trips to see deaf theatre productions and film screenings. Our socials always involve opportunities to interact with the deaf community and make new deaf friends.
We also offer our members the chance to contribute to the local deaf community by volunteering to assist deaf children at school.
