UCL Leadership & Management Society
University College London
The Leadership & Management Society (LMS) is a University College London (UCL) society which specialises in providing a diverse range of students with the opportunities needed to develop the key skills needed to be a successful industry leader.
UCL LMS was founded in 2015 to fill the gap within UCL societies. Other career driven societies concentrated on technical industry knowledge whereas UCL LMS believed there was a lack of focus on developing leadership skills. This opinion was solidified by the high level of interest UCL LMS received which lead to the society breaking the number of sign ups at UCL Freshers Fair. Further highlighting the success and necessity of this society was LMS gaining the award for Best New Society for the academic year of 2016 – 2017. UCL LMS is yet to reach its full potential and the committee for 2018 – 2019 believe they have the ideas needed to expand the society.
Leadership is a vital skill that many struggle to perfect and UCL LMS provides new opportunities via guest lectures, keynote speakers, workshops and formal conferences which allow students to better understand what leadership is. UCL LMS attracts students from all disciplines and academic year groups as we focus on the transferrable skills which are required within any work place. The society wishes to create more development opportunities for students to develop these skills by more frequent workshops and introducing mock assessment centres which allow them to understand their areas of strength and weakness in a pressured environment.
