RUMS Men's Football Club
University College London
RUMS FC is the UCL medical school football team. We are one of the largest societies in the medical school, comprised of 4 teams who participate successfully in BUCS and LUSL leagues on a weekly basis. Our 1s compete in the highest league in London and against top universities in the southern England. We enter all teams into the United Hospitals Cup; one of the oldest football competitions in the country that pits London’s best university teams against one another. Annually, the club competes in the National Association of Medical Schools (NAMS) tournament, bringing together hundreds of medical students across the country. Our marquee event is a fiercely competitive game against the King’s College London Medical School in the London Varsity Series, consistently attracting crowds of over 500.
The club is also extremely active socially, interacting with other RUMS clubs as well as UCL societies. All events are often advertised on our Twitter or Instagram accounts with around 1000 followers, or via the club website.
Finally, RUMS FC also aims to give back. Within the medical school, we host an annual football tournament with all proceeds given to a chosen charity. In terms of volunteering, we are partnered with UCL Academy (a secondary school in Camden) providing after school football sessions with two of our members supervising each week, encouraging young people to get active and participate in sport.
